The Bristle-thighed Curlew is a shorebird that breeds solely in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta, and makes its southern winter migration through 4,000-10,000 km of open ocean to Oceania, primarily the Hawaiian islands. These shorebirds have relatively long life spans (15-23) years and breed as monogamous pairs. Adult Bristle-thighed Curlew are also faithful to specific areas during the non-breeding season. Additionally, during the non-breeding season these birds tend to become flightless which has contributed to their small adult population size (7,000), due to recently introduced predators such as dogs, cats, and pigs. It is listed by the IUCN as: vulnerable. The Bristle-thighed Curlew is one of only a few bird species known to use rocks as tools to break open crab shells or other bird's eggs to eat.

The Zebra Dove is often found in parts of South East Asia, such as the Malay Peninsula, the Philippines, and Indonesia. They feed on grass seeds and prefer to roost high in trees. It is not a migratory bird, however it is a popular cage bird, and is believed to have been introduced to the Hawaiian islands by a Singaporean dealer in 1922. Zebra doves breed from September until June, and the males have a courtship display where they bob their heads with their tails up. The Zebra dove has since established itself as a common bird species in Hawaii, and is well-adapted to inhabited areas. It is listed as a game bird, although it is not commonly hunted.

The Hawaiin Coot as its name suggests, is endemic to Hawaii. The population is around 2,000-4,000 birds, and the IUCN lists the species as: vulnerable. It inhabits the lowland valleys and wetlands of Oahu. While they can inhabit a variety of water bodies they are considered vulnerable because the ecosystems as a whole are under threat. The coot is typically very silent, only occasionally making clucking sounds similar to a chicken. The hawaiian coot like the American Coot is primarily vegetarian, with its diet consisting of lots of algae. The Hawaiian coot can breed all year long and is monogamous (Hawaiian Coots, 2015).
