This is a Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake also known as a Pelamis Platura are one of the few native snakes belonging to the Hawaii region. However, the snake has extended it's distribution globally to such places as Japan, Indonesia, and to eastern parts of Africa. This snake preys on small fish using their neurotoxic venom to kill the fishes nervous system. It's interesting how the snake has the ability to extract salt from it's food but not for it's hydration. Instead, the Yellow-Bellied Sea Snake can endure dehydration up to two months until it's rains. Then the snake drinks water from the resting fresh rain water that sits above the heavy sea salt ocean.
