There are five botanical gardens located in Honolulu County. All of the gardens are open to the public, and host various events, including Preschool nature hour, family fishing derbies, and various arts classes. Guided tours are available at all locations.

Surfrider FoundationThe Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit started by surfers who wanted to protect the environment they enjoyed surfing in. Though it started in California, Surfrider has spread to many other locations, including Oahu. According to their website, "the Oahu Chapter’s mission is to improve water quality, ensure the public’s right to beach access, reduce plastic marine debris, and work for responsible, ocean-friendly development on the island of Oahu."
